Worcestershire County Council’s Business Energy Efficiency Programme (BEEP) continues to offer free energy and resource efficiency assessments, advice and grant funding from £1k to £20k to SMEs throughout Worcestershire and the Marches.
The first BEEP Programme ran from October 2016 until March this year, helping 310 businesses to save in energy costs, saved 8,275 tonnes of greenhouse gasses and £2.1m worth of annual energy savings were recommended to businesses.
With further funding received from the European Regional Development Fund, BEEP has recently been extended until March 2022. Since being operational again from June, 100 further businesses have received free energy assessments and approximately £165,000 worth of grants has been awarded to businesses.
One such business is Beakbane Ltd. Based in Kidderminster Beakbane Ltd provide a complete product design, manufacture and assembly service to global original equipment manufacturers and local businesses.
Beakbane Ltd received funding from the first tranche of BEEP funding and again in the current programme totalling approximately £25,000 to upgrade their old heating and to install LED lighting. Their annual savings amount to approximately £14k per annum.
Mike Southwell, Managing Director, Beakbane Ltd said “We have found the BEEP process both efficient and effective to get support for improvements in our energy consumption across the site. The quick grant approval process allowed us to implement the whole project through the summer and have in place before the onset of winter when we expect it to be of maximum value”.
