“Hello and welcome to the first newsletter of 2024 from the Worcestershire Growth Hub. I hope you had a restful break over the festive period and on behalf of the team, I wish you all a Happy New Year.
At the Growth Hub, we’ve picked up where we left off in 2023 and continue to be busy helping support local businesses to grow. This month we have a fresh batch of updates for your business.
First up this month is a program called Multiply. This is a national initiative being delivered locally and aims to help employers to upskill the numeracy skills of their staff for free. Maths as a key fundamental skill for so many jobs and careers. And this program can be completely tailored to your business’s needs. So if you’d like to help develop your staff and improve your productivity using practical examples that are relevant to your industry or company, then this could be the one for you.
Later this month, our team will also be working with our technology accelerator, BetaDen and our Midlands Cyber team to host an event on the 31st January. The Connect TECH event will help local businesses to understand the business support events and opportunities coming up in 2024 from BetaDen, Midlands Cyber, Worcestershire Growth Hub and the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership. This is a great opportunity to engage with our various project teams and ensure you are up to date with how we can help your organisation. Also as we head into February, the county will be doing a lot of work around start up support for new businesses.
The team at County Council are delivering their start up fest, a dedicated event to support aspiring entrepreneurs and early stage businesses with a jam packed day of inspiration and insight. During the startup Fest, a Dragon’s Den style competition will take place to give individuals yet to start a business or businesses under 12 months old. A unique opportunity to practice pitching their business idea or concept in front of a friendly panel of experts. And finally, a date for the diaries. The Worcestershire LEP team are hosting their flagship event of the year on the 23rd of February.
The event ‘Worcestershire: The BIG Conversation’ will bring the public, private and education sectors together to help unleash the economic potential of the county and drive us forward. Don’t miss this event, which will be your chance to engage, debate and influence the work of the LEP and our partners to ensure Worcestershire works for your business.
