A successful Worcestershire laundry business has expanded with its owners investing a five-figure sum to open a county town’s first ever dry cleaners.

Local businesswoman Sue Guise-Teeling and her business partners, who 18 months ago opened The Laundry Room, a popular washing and ironing service in Bewdley, have invested £60,000 to open The Dry Cleaning Room in a next door shop.

The new venture sees Bewdley benefitting from its first dedicated dry cleaning service with a heavy investment in the shop’s fit out and a top of the range eco dryer – enabling items such as suits, curtains, wedding dresses and precious outfits to be cleaned without going to a third-party provider outside of the town.

Also offering a free local collection and delivery service, the business has boosted the town’s economy by providing four new customer-facing jobs, taking the team to six.

Ms Guise-Teeling said: “It’s really exciting to be opening our second shop in Bewdley and being next door we’ve made sure they complement each other perfectly.

“The washing and ironing business has been hugely popular over the past 18 months but we always felt the town was crying out for a high quality dry cleaners – meaning that people don’t have to travel, or have their items sent away.

“It’s been a big investment but we are delighted with the outcome. We have installed the best eco-friendly equipment available which allows us to dry clean large items such as curtains, to precious items like wedding dresses.

“Feedback from customers has already been brilliant and to add four new jobs to the town really is the icing on the cake.”

Ms Guise-Teeling added that aside from providing services to walk-in customers, the new shop is also developing its commercial side with it offering a laundry service to local restaurants and hotels.
