The Business

ISO Quality Services Ltd is an independent organisation that specialises in the implementation, certification, training and continued auditing of ISO and BS EN Management Standards. Founded in 2000, ISO Quality Services employs 12 people at their head office in Worcester and 20 sub-contractors who operate nationwide. To us, our team is our most important asset. As a small business we rely heavily on the contributions of each team member and look to take any opportunity to minimise risks to our productivity. We care very much about the well-being of our employees, stemming from our roots as a family business. We have always looked at ways to benefit our staff, but getting involved in Worcestershire Works Well (WWW) means that we now have a formal structure in place, to the advantage of our employees and the business. We decided to pursue this accreditation as it fitted in well with our business plans, including objectives surrounding employee retention. In our industry recruitment and training costs are high and as a small business it is important that we retain talented individuals. We also felt that WWW was the right fit for us as we like to get involved in and support local initiatives. We like to show that small businesses can do it too!

The Worcestershire Works Well impact

Our participation in Worcestershire Works Well has had a really positive impact on the whole business. It has truly brought the team together and highlighted concerns for us as a small team.
An employee, who suffered from severe headaches and back pain at work has seen a real improvement from the initiative. Our involvement in WWW has helped reduce their amount of time off work by sponsoring workplace massage, which has made a real difference. Also since being inspired to make healthier choices as well as losing weight, this has helped to reduce the colleague’s back pain.
On a whole sickness rates have decreased and based on a recent survey we saw an increase in the number of employees losing weight, being encouraged to join weight loss groups and an uptake in the variety of exercises employees were becoming involved in. The majority of the company also acknowledged that they had been making healthier choices and smarter food swaps as a result of our participation in WWW.
Since changing her exercise and diet routine, another employee has also seen a big change and is now in a fantastic position to provide talks, encouragement and support. Since changing her lifestyle, she has found that she is sleeping better and is far more energised and motivated throughout the day due to regular exercise.
