Over 25 business leaders from across Worcestershire were taken to The Manufacturing Technology Centre

Over 25 business leaders from across Worcestershire were taken to The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) in Coventry as part of a strategic business event from the Worcestershire Growth Hub.

On Tuesday 23 November, the Worcestershire Growth Hub, hosted the exclusive event with the aim to provide attending businesses with an inside knowledge of the latest technologies.

Attendees also heard key talks delivered during the event about the support options available for businesses. The main speaker for the event was Neil Smith of the MTC who discussed manufacturing innovation and the support on offer through the MTC facilities.

Following on from this, attendees then got to hear from Gary Woodman, Chief Executive of the Worcestershire LEP, and Judy Chadwick, Director of Skills at the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership.

These talks focused on the amount of support available for Worcestershire businesses through the Growth Hub and encouraged businesses to engage with the team to ensure they were aware of all the support available. There was also a focus on skills support, recognising the challenges businesses are facing around recruitment.

Judy informed attendees that through the Worcestershire Careers Hub programme there were a plethora of ways that businesses could succession plan utilising avenues that promote their industry and careers to young people, creating their future workforce.

After the presentations were delivered, the businesses then experienced an exclusive in-depth tour around the MTC to see first-hand the innovative work taking place there.

The event was hugely successful with several businesses already contacting the Growth Hub team to find out more about the support options available in the county and with the MTC.

Gary Woodman, Chief Executive of the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “It was a pleasure to be part of the business trip to the Manufacturing Technology Centre. Working with the Growth Hub we were able to support over 20 businesses to get a first-hand tour of their incredible facilities and understand how the MTC could support them to improve their innovation in the future.

“I would encourage any organisations in Worcestershire to contact the Worcestershire Growth Hub so that you can learn more about the various support funds, schemes and programmes available to help your business grow.”

Neil Smith, Senior Business Development Manager at the Manufacturing Technology Centre, said: “It was great to welcome a variety of businesses large and small to the MTC last month, thank you to Gwen from the Worcestershire Growth Hub & MTC Events for organising this, it was a while in the making but well worth the effort.  The delegates received a full Workshop tour of the MTC as well as a presentation, it was good to see their enthusiasm and engagement in understanding how the MTC can support them with Innovation, Technology & Productivity.

“It was also rewarding that Worcestershire businesses realise that they need to look to the future and keep on developing and investing in their businesses to survive and prosper and understand that establishments like the MTC are there to support them in their journey”.
