Five employees from a Redditch recruitment firm have raised £1,000 for Primrose Hospice by completing a grueling 24-mile charity walk.

Workers from Church Green West-based Workforce Recruitment took part in the 12-hour Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge across the county’s tallest mountains – Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough.

The group completed the challenge in 10 hours 30 minutes for Primrose which last year the recruitment firm’s staff voted as its chosen charity for 2017.

Joe Alekna, managing director of Workforce, who was also one of the team to complete the walk, said: “We have been challenging our team to take part in events to help raise money for Primrose Hospice and this was by far the most difficult.

“Our small group kept each other going through some difficult conditions but to walk the tallest mountains in Yorkshire was a brilliant experience. It felt great to finish on time and raise £1,000 for a charity which achieves so much for people.

“We know the money raised will be put to good use by the hospice as they continue to support hundreds of families across Worcestershire.”

Kate Kelly, corporate fundraising manager at Primrose Hospice, added: “The team at Workforce continue to put a huge effort into their fundraising efforts and we are so grateful for their generosity.

“Joe and the guys took on a huge challenge up in Yorkshire and to do that for Primrose highlights just how supportive they’ve been.”

The charity hike closely follows a Workforce-sponsored business event earlier this year at Grafton Manor which saw £3,000 raised for the hospice.

Primrose Hospice needs £1.75 million every year to keep running all its services, but gets less than a fifth of its funding from the NHS. The charity relies heavily on voluntary donations. It offers a Day Hospice, Home Service and Family Support.

Workforce Recruitment specialises in supplying staff for key sectors including Warehousing, Manufacturing, Office based, Logistics, Contact Centre, Media and Design and Business Administration.
