Redditch electrical company scoops SELECT’s award for Best New Product

With the integrity of premises an increasing concern, a new smart security floodlight system has won a Worcestershire company the sought-after Best New Product award at a ceremony hosted by SELECT, Scotland’s largest trade association.

The campaigning body for the electrotechnical sector in Scotland chose ESP, of Redditch, as winner in a category which showcases innovation and technical ingenuity in a sophisticated market.

ESP, which has been supplying security products to the electrical industry for more than 20 years, was acclaimed for its GuardCam Deco, a combined wifi security camera and LED floodlight system.

The unit can detect an intruder at a distance of up to 10 metres, light up the area, initiate a video recording and provide an option for remote monitoring and two-way communication from a smartphone or tablet.

Dave Forrester, SELECT’s Head of Technical Services, said: “Innovation and customer-focused product development has always been a priority for SELECT members and ESP is a worthy winner in this hard-fought category.

“It was abundantly clear that ESP had spent a lot of time considering how the GuardCam Deco system could be installed easily and safely and how it would provide a seamless service for the end user.

“The system allows the owners of premises, whether domestic or commercial, to be proactive in the protection measures they take and to benefit from a set-up which acts as a positive and visible deterrent.”

The award was presented by Gerald O’Hare, of award sponsor City Electrical Factors, at a gathering at the Radisson Blu in the centre of Glasgow on Friday night. (October 12)

The evening was hosted by Shereen Nanjiani, one of Scotland’s most popular radio and television personalities, and was attended by a wide range of companies, from major electrical enterprises to local firms, illustrating the diversity and strength of Scotland’s electrical sector.

AICO, of Shropshire, and Manrose, of Berkshire, were also nominated for the Best New Product award. AICO’s heat and carbon dioxide alarm was Highly Commended.

ESP is a Scolmore Group company which offers its customers a comprehensive range of electronic security and fire detection systems including CCTV, access control and video door entry.

Alan Wilson, Head of Membership and Communications at SELECT, said:

“The company’s products demonstrate the wide range of its innovative thinking and the determination to put functionality and ease of use at the core of everything that it does. ESP is truly a deserving winner.”

SELECT’s 1250 member companies account for around 90% of all electrical installation work carried out in Scotland. They have a collective turnover of around £1 billion.

The organisation helps to shape the market environment by representing the industry to all levels of government and helps influence legislation to create industry conditions which enable member firms to provide a quality service and maintain profitability.
