The Low Carbon Opportunities Programme (LOCOP) have contracted Briar Associates to support Worcestershire businesses to consider and install Renewable Energy such as Solar PV, Geothermal heat systems, Biomass boilers, Air, Ground or Water Source Heat Pumps. Our aim is to save carbon emissions and reduce energy usage and costs.

For over 25 years Briar Associates have delivered energy efficiency, carbon management and cost reduction solutions to businesses and are experts in integrating renewable technologies into existing buildings and new building development, Using their energy and engineering expertise they aim to provide businesses in Worcestershire with a free 12 hour renewable energy assessment. They will work with businesses to determine individual needs and to assess the best way to incorporate renewable technologies into the business. Following the free advice, grants of up to £100,000 are available. Briar Associates have recently carried out an assessment at Smart Cut Limited, a company based in Pershore. Their report identified that the Company could achieve annual financial savings £7,800 per year with carbon emissions reduced by 19 tonnes. Generation capacity at the site would increase from 0 kWp to 82.5 kWp, which is estimated to provide 51% of the current annual electricity consumption. Tom Rimell, the Director of Smart Cut Ltd, said that “although we are early in the process, I have found Briar Associates to be knowledgeable in their subject, very responsive, helpful, and professional in their approach.” Over the last three years, LOCOP, managed by Worcestershire County Council has provided technical advice and support to over 80 businesses and £822,000 in grant funding for both innovation and renewables. If you are a Worcestershire based business, have less than 250 employees and have a turnover of less than €50million Euros then you could be eligible. The project is receiving up to £1,624,328 of funding from the England European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020 The Programme will also offer a series of events, working alongside local partners, to provide further support and learning opportunities to businesses.
