Superfast Worcestershire creates opportunities for businesses through high-speed fibre broadband

The number of Worcestershire businesses able to get high-speed fibre broadband has more than doubled in two years, thanks to the multi million pound Superfast Worcestershire programme, lead partners Worcestershire County Council and BT announced on Friday August 5, 2016.

The County Council revealed it had achieved its ‘Open for Business’ target of making the technology available to 90 per cent of businesses in the county. And the number of firms with access to fibre is continuing to grow.

Superfast Worcestershire is a partnership between Worcestershire County Council, BT and the Government’s Broadband Delivery UK programme and builds on the commercial roll-out of fibre broadband by the private sector.

There are a number of Worcestershire based businesses who haven”t looked back since upgrading their business to superfast. Read all about them here.

Discover a new, flexible way to workview here
Working flexibly can benefit both employers and employees, enabling work on the move, at home, in different locations and with flexible hours. This can help businesses to grow, and help ensure working harmonies by firms and their staff.

Manage change with ‘Cloud Computing’view here
Everyone is talking about how cloud computing may bring considerable benefits to small and medium-sized businesses. It allows organisations with limited resources to store critical data or leverage considerable computing power without purchasing additional software and hardware. Cloud computing not only reduces overhead costs but also allows firms to focus their resources on areas that need them most.

Having a faster, more reliable connection opens up opportunities for businesses.  Fast and reliable fibre broadband connections give businesses the power to do more and sell more. With superfast broadband, businesses can serve their customers better and attract new ones more easily. What’s more, they can work more flexibly and cut costs.

Already, one in three households and businesses have signed up for the faster services. For more information about the benefits of superfast broadband and to check if your business can upgrade, visit the Superfast Worcestershire website.

The Foundation provided financial sponsorship for all four students and their teaching assistant to attend the project, the cost of transport to and from Bonterre, food for the pupils as well as providing the materials for a range of activities and tasks undertaken such as seeds and compost, plants and timber.

Aston Fields Middle School Assistant Headteacher, Carole Teer, commented: “Participation in this “outreach” project, at Bonterre, has been a fantastic opportunity for the four pupils, helping them develop a greater understanding of how the world outside of home and school, works, as well as developing the implicit life skills of team-building, empathy, decision making and resilience, as they prepare for the next stage in their learning journey at high school.
“Staff at Aston fields Middle School and parents/carers are very grateful to the Oakland Foundation Charity for funding this innovative provision for “real life”, in these challenging budgetary times for schools. The Oakland Foundation Charity has been able to provide a bespoke curriculum opportunity, which would otherwise have been impossible.”

“The Oakland Foundation supports children living in Redditch and Bromsgrove and the surrounding area with activities relating to Health and Nutrition, Education and Sport, and who are in need by reason of disadvantage or financial hardship.
