Whilst F8 Creates has always specialised in branding and visual identity, initially, the majority of projects that the business worked on were web design and photography. The last ten years have seen a gradual move into more graphic design and video work, and in 2019, F8 now equally specialise across all services.
Of the three founding members of the company, Hamish Gill and Greg Smith remain as directors. In the decade since incorporation, F8 Creates has grown to be a thriving business, employing a team of seven members of staff.
The F8 directors are big supporters of the apprentice programme with many of their staff having started as apprentices, as director Greg Smith said:
“We took on our first apprentice in 2012 and our second in 2013. There’s now seven of us and most of our staff started as apprentices, so we’re a huge advocate for the programme.”
Since 2009, the F8 Creates team have moved premises six times within Worcester, with their current location, The Kiln, being their seventh home. Based in the Guildhall on Worcester High Street, The Kiln is a co-working space launched by F8 Creates directors Hamish and Greg in late 2018.
The concept of The Kiln fits well with the emphasis on collaboration that has been a key part of the F8 Creates ethos since the start. Greg Smith said:
“We have come a long way since our official incorporation back in 2009, having launched well over 200 websites, taken considerably more than 500,000 photos, and created hundreds of videos and business cards.
“Whilst our business has grown, our commitment to creative collaboration remains as strong as ever. To deliver the best results for our clients, we regularly work with specialists from the wider creative community in Worcester and beyond.
“Creating The Kiln was a natural step for us. From working with other creative brands, we realised that freelancers and start-ups lacked a co-working space to work and develop their ideas. The Kiln is our solution to strengthen the creative community in Worcestershire.”
In an industry that is ever developing and changing, F8 Creates are excited about the future. Greg Smith said:
“We would like to thank everyone who has played a part in helping us reach this ten-year milestone, particularly the staff and clients who have supported us so far. It has been an excellent ten years and we look forward to the challenges that the next decade presents!”
