Growth Hub Update – June 2023

Video Transcript

Hello, and welcome to the June edition of the Worcestershire Growth Hub newsletter. You joined me today are our offices in Malvern as we take advantage of the bright weather we’ve been experiencing here in the county for a couple of weeks or so now.

As usual, this month’s newsletter is crammed with updates, and I’d like to start by reminding you all that there are now only a few days remaining to apply for the BetaDen technology accelerator program. The deadline for applications is a 16th of June, and this award winning program can help budding entrepreneurs or established businesses accelerate a new technology product or service to market. If you’d like to find out more, please take a look at the article of a newsletter and speak with a team who will be more than happy to assist you.

We’ve also got some really positive news to report from our friends at the University of Worcester who have recently succeeded in their bid to become an accredited delivery partner for the government’s Help to Grow initiative. This means that Worcestershire businesses will be able to access the government funded Help to Grow initiative on the doorstep within our own county for the first time, removing the need to travel further afield. The university’s business school will be helping SME businesses like yours, with between 5 and 249 employees to identify and work on the areas of your business that you would like to develop. And delivered over 12 weeks, the course is designed to be undertaken alongside full time work and via peer learning and networking enables businesses to share, learn and collaborate together on the challenges and opportunities facing your businesses.

Registration is now open and places are limited for a September start. Again, you can find out more in the article in the newsletter.

We also have access to a scheme to help businesses with upskilling their workforce. Skills Bootcamps is a government backed program to help businesses to upskill their staff with different types of training at a reduced cost. Examples of the training delivered via these Skills Bootcamps include upskilling staff in tech and IT, construction, leadership and management, health and social care, and many more. The latest wave of Skills Bootcamps are now live in Worcestershire and this is a great opportunity for businesses to develop their workforce and futureproof their business. I’d encourage all readers to have a look at the article in the newsletter and see if this could help your business.

Finally, just a reminder to businesses that we have the Business Worcestershire Conference taking place later this month on the 27th of June. It’s been to do for the County Council and this will give you a chance to engage with sustainability experts to help your business on its journey to net zero. Follow the link in the newsletter and register for your place. Thanks again for listening. We hope this provides you with a useful glimpse of the support we have available this month, and I look forward to catching up with you all again in July with more information and support.
