Growth Hub Update – November 2023

Video Transcript

Hello and welcome to the November edition of the Worcestershire Growth Hub Roundup. As usual, there is lots going on and so I would encourage any business looking for support to get in touch with the team who will help you to navigate the various schemes and initiatives that are out there. But we need to begin somewhere. So I’ll start by flagging with you the support that’s available to make your organisations more sustainable.

We know that this continues to be an important issue for governments and businesses on an international level. And so here in the county, working with the teams at the County Council, there is support that’s being made available for businesses to assist with reaching net zero ambitions and to monitor carbon emissions. This free support enables organisations to report and monitor their emissions and even means that businesses can identify solutions that will save them money and result in them being a cleaner, more sustainable business in the future.

This free portal is available to businesses who are interested, and if you’d like to find out more. Please follow the link in our newsletter.

November also marks a big time for us Skills support in the county. The Worcestershire LEP and the County Council hosted the annual Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards on the 16th of November with a celebratory event at the West Midland Safari Park. And on that note, if any organisations across the county are interested in finding out more about how apprenticeships could enable their business to grow, whether this be with new staff or upskilling existing staff, please contact our team. There’s a plethora of other skills and training support available and our team can help you to identify and access the right support.

So again, please get in touch with the team for a chat to find out more how this can help.

The next area of support I’d like to highlight is around our Inclusive Worcestershire program. This programme aims to help organisations understand how they can be a more inclusive employer and as a result, support their businesses to grow and support the local community. We are running a series of events in partnership with the County Council on this topic to support more employers on this journey. The first event received some really positive feedback from businesses who really saw the value that bring at the being inclusive can bring to both their business and their local communities. We’ve got three more events coming up with the next one taking place in December and a focus on neurodiversity in the workplace.

We still have spaces available and this event will cover how your business can embrace neurodiversity within the workplace and crucially, how it can help your business to be more effective. You can find out more about this event and the rest of the inclusive series within our newsletter.

As always, these are just a few snippets of the support updates we have for businesses this month. Please have a read through the newsletter to see what else is available and if you have any queries, please give the team a call to find out more about how the Worcestershire Growth Hub can help your business.
